Awakening Wednesday — AlcoWho?

By Rob Hardwicke, Product Master, Awakening Skin Care

“Alcohol has been found outside the Solar System.  It can be found in low densitites in star and planetary-system-forming regions of space”.  So says Wikipedia.  I appears the Creator knows a good thing when He sees it!  Maybe stop off on the way home for a

Alcohol has so many uses known to man!

toot after a hard day of creating things!

Alcohol comes is many forms — isopropyl, methyl, wood, etc.  Some are used to fuel machines (methanol).  Some are used to fuel humans (ethanol — also known as such things as ‘Scotch’ or “Bourbon”!

Alcohol has so many uses: Antifreeze, Antiseptics, Fuels, Preservatives, Solvents and Cocktails — to name a few.

Some people insist that alcohol as an ingredient in a skin care product is bad because it is “drying”.  And who among us actually wants dry skin, after all?

Yet the drying effects of ethyl alcohol (the good, sippin’ stuff), aren’t necessarily bad.  In the case of Awakening’s formulations, these drying effects can be offset altogether.

For a number of years, we formulated an awesome sanitizer for the hands, called, appropriately enough: Awakening HANDS SANITIZER.  Because of Awakening’s hallmark use of natural minerals (primarily magnesium and potassium), our including ethyl alcohol as an ingredient actually produced a product that was both sanitizing and hydrating.  Hydrating is the oppositive of drying, so here was a case where alcohol was used in a skin care product to produce a very desirable effect — a light product that did many good things for the skin.  The morale of this story: Don’t believe everything you may hear or read!

Awakening Mineral Skin Care is a boutique formulator of nature-derived, vegan skin care products utilizing concentrated mineral crystals isolated from the Dead Sea, essential oils and botanical extracts.  With only a few exceptions, we call our products by what they do: Awakening HANDS treats hands, Awakening FEET treats feet, Awakening BODY treats bodies, Awakening SCALP treats scalps — you get the idea.  However Awakening MUDFace is mud for the face (and feet!) — so, as with 9th grade English, there are always exceptions to every rule!
